San Francisco fashion enthusiasts can not miss the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition currently on display at the de Young Museum. Widely recognized as the designer who created the cone bra for Madonna in the 1990's, Gaultier also revolutionized the traditional corset. Making it fashionable to wear underwear as outerwear, Gaultier's avant-garde designs have often challenged fashion norms, taking popular style in bold new directions.

The exhibition has an area called 'The boudoir,' which highlights Gaultier's contributions to the evolution of the corset and other lingerie. With the corset being one of his earliest inspirations in fashion, Gaultier added his own twist to bustier designs. He redesigned the twentieth-century corset, making it more stylish and comfortable to wear. He also added his own touches to the 1940s waist-cincher, resulting in sexier, more revealing styles.

Now modern corsets and waist-cinchers are more stylish than ever. At Aricie Lingerie, you will find a variety of exquisite looks. For example, the Ipnotica bustier from R. Crescentini is elegant enough to be worn as a sexy top. In black or purple, the body is made with bands of satin and flame motif lace. The satin cups are softly padded, and enhanced with Swarovski crystals. Lise Charmel's Pretty Sexy Corset is another great choice, with a black sheer stretch tulle body, and stretch lace, dotted tulle, and velvet ribbon embellishments.

The Shiny Guepiere from Parah is a beautiful fashion bustier in reddish brown. Great under a jacket or cardigan, the bustier has removable garters and a padded push up bra. The corset is designed with a rich shiny lace and matte sheer mesh fabric. Another wonderful option is  Christies Melody Guepiere, in the popular spring colors of pink with green or purple with fuschia. The sheer mesh body is finished with embroidered lace at the bottom. Embellished with a bow in between, the soft cups are padded and covered with floral embroidered lace.

For waist cinchers that will you will love to wear, Lise Charmel's Soir de Venise is made with sheer black lace, embroidered in intricate detail. It also has a true lace-up ribbon front with guipure lace borders at top and bottom. From R. Crescentini, the sophisticated Ercole Waist Cincher is also an alluring choice. Made with Valencienne lace inserted into fine sheer tulle, the back is designed with two satin bands that create a dramatic effect. The Enigma Waist Cincher is another unique style, with a small back that widens to a larger pointed front. Also by R. Crescentini, it is made with black flame motif lace, embellished with Swarovski crystals and satin appliques.
